First off, my kids do have beds.
As a toddler, despite my earnest desire to enforce regulation bed naps, my oldest started lying down and dozing off in the strangest places and positions. Naturally, I took pictures, thinking it wouldn’t happen again. I was wrong. It’s been nearly three years now and the naps have kept coming. In fact, the random napping gene appears to have been transferred to our younger son, who has started providing some pretty good junior varsity material. I am told their father had similar napping talents when he was a child, so perhaps it is inherited!
In answer to the questions so many of you have asked – no, neither of my boys is narcoleptic and no, I do not pose the pictures. Seriously!
It turns out that we are not alone. Parents all over the country have sent me their own pictures, proving that sometimes a kid just has to snooze wherever he or she wants to. Our motto is that any nap is a good nap…even if it isn’t your own.
