Guest Napper #76 – PiZZZa Party

23 Mar

As parents, we are appalled by what has happened to our Friday nights.

Sure, we’re glad it’s the weekend, finally. However, any mom or dad will tell you it can sometimes be lights out by 9:30pm, even for the adults. For others, perhaps, a little earlier than that…

Friday nights are hard.

Esther’s daughter didn’t make it through dinner.

The worst part is, I know if this were my kid, I’d actually be tempted to eat the rest of that pizza. You know, like the toast bones of the grilled cheese.

Yummy.

May you party like rock stars tonight, friends.

Guest Napper #54: Exhausted Escapee

21 Dec

Right about this time every year, it seems like all my friends are talking about how they just want to go hide in a closet somewhere. Calgon, take me away!

Danielle sent me this picture of Tristin. It looks like he bungled his own escape.

When you just gotta get out.

At least Tristin had the presence of mind to open the entire door, unlike William, who attempted an escape through the cat door some time ago.

Next thing you know, one of these kids will be trying to get out via the chimney. Someone warn Santa!

What happened here?

7 Dec

I really sat sort of speechless in front of this photo for a few minutes and thought, “What, exactly, happened here?”

It looks as if William was playing a two-player Xbox game, when he was suddenly buried under an ottoman and a toy box.  And then…he got tired and fell asleep?

Yeah. I got nothin'...

How does a person prepare a bed of pillows and wrap himself in his blankie before being surprised by an avalanche of playroom furniture? Sadly, there wasn’t a good samaritan in sight to help pull him out of this awkward situation. Perhaps he played each controller until the batteries ran out and then succumbed to exhaustion, hoping a parent would find him.

Don't give up hope, William!

The worst part is that he was just a couple of feet from his half-eaten grilled cheese. He can almost reach it.

Hang on, my man. Mama is coming!

Convertible Nap

28 Apr

I’m so sorry I’ve been AWOL this week!  As those of you who know me well are quite aware, I am on the last week of my graduate degree and with two final papers due, my ability to post has somewhat diminished!

So imagine my delight when my friend over at My Convertible Life posted this truly top-notch, first-class stair nap featuring her daughter Pippi.

Convertible Girl/Mom is a really interesting, funny blogger who also advocates for education reform.  Definitely go see this nap and stay to read for awhile!  See you again in a few days when I emerge from my fog of paper writing!

Can I take a nap now?

Toy Coma #1

Ain't that a kick in the head?

There’s so much going on here that I don’t know what caused the collapse.  Was it the taxing reading material?  The heavy stacking cups?  The tennis?  Or did he somehow knock himself out while kicking off his shoes?  We’ll ask him when he comes to.
