Guest Napper #51- LIVE!

This is a nap distinctly lacking in the traditional trappings of the holiday, such as snow, Santa, and sugar rushes. Come to think of it, this may just be a sugar CRASH happening here. I’m not sure this girl is fit to be behind the wheel of this sleek exersaucer in her drowsy condition.

Jen sent me this great video of her daughter Maycee, who seems all decked out in a party ‘do and appears to have zero chance of staying awake for the party.

Try to focus on the nap and not being jealous of this nice weather.

I think my favorite random detail is the stumbling, wandering boy who walks into the frame at the end. Wearing a helmet. Judging by Maycee’s dramatic nodding action, that might be a good idea…in case he decides to take a nap.

Exersaucer whiplash...

Ouch.

Luckily, the fine folks at the toy company knew to pad the dash on these things! It protects so many little noses.

Off to brew myself a pot of coffee…

 

Sleeping and Stuffing LIVE!

When I was typing the title of this blog, I accidentally put in “Sleeping and Stuffing LIVER!” which was probably some kind of Freudian slip related to images of foie gras…but you can’t blame me after this gluttonous holiday we’ve all just survived, can you?

Lorelei sent me this adorable video of determined little Aiden Ro, who doesn’t let a little exhaustion interrupt his feeding frenzy.  Watching it, I couldn’t help but have flashbacks to this weekend, when I set the fifth round of appetizers (cheese…olives…DIP) on the coffee table and smiled at everyone as if I had no idea they were already disgusted with themselves.

“Save room for dessert!”  Aiden Ro isn’t leaving anything to chance. He has a feeling he might not be awake for dessert, yo.

Notice the dog hangs around for a little while, and then he just gets out of the way.

Speaking of which, you people stay out of my way today, as I make a beeline for the exercise machine and the salad spinner. Have to do penance for the next holiday stuffing.

I stumbled upon this old video totally by accident, while posting the last Naps Happen video.  I had completely forgotten about it, which amazes me.  What could be better?

I think it was Allison at Motherhood WTF   (Edit: Nope – it was Kim at Let Me Start By Saying…sorry Kim!) who requested live footage of how naps “happen.”  What I am showing you here is a very early sign of what was coming, before the first nap I ever photographed even happened.

Important: The music is not a track I laid on.  It was in the room, coming from the keyboard muzak function.

Naps Happen LIVE!

Early in the days of Naps Happen, I posted a bunch of pictures of William out cold in front of what was actually a very loud keyboard playing an endless cycle of muzak songs.  The problem is, the picture just can’t convey how deep his sleep was, in the presence of such horribly noisy, cheesy Christmas Carols and renditions of Bryan Adams.

Devoted nap enthusiasts, rejoice, for Cormac has discovered the piano.

It would appear that he does not find it soporific.  William, however, is never impervious to the sweet strains of Bryan Adams.   They appear to induce slumber in some odd, Pavlovian way.

Cue the bell.  Cue the meat powder.  If only Pavlov had known about Muzak.
